Tornado High-Performance Blender - Frequently Asked Questions

Dear Customer!

Below you will find some frequently asked questions and answers.

Should you have any questions that are not addressed below, please feel free to contact us.

===========================================

  • Can I make soup in my TORNADO Blender? How does that work?

Yes, you can make hot, wholesome soups within minutes! There is no hidden heat-element or anything like that. The heat is created by the friction of the high-speed blade. The longer you run the blender on HIGH, the warmer and eventually steaming hot your soups will become. There are thousands of soup-recipes available, so please feel free to explore and enjoy!

===========================================

  • Can I adjust the timer while the machine is running?

Yes you can adjust the timer up or down at any time while the machine is running. The timer can be adjusted in 15 second intervals ranging from 15 to 180 seconds.

If you select the AUTO program, the timer is disabled. The blender will run through the automatic program and automatically stop after 2 minutes. You can stop the AUTO program at any time by pushing the STOP button of course.

===========================================

  • I bought a TORNADO with the old plastic container several years ago. Does the new stainless steel container work on my blender?

Yes, the stainless steel container works with your 'old' TORNADO.
All you will need is the updated center pad (the large rubber part that sits on top of the motor base). We will include this for free when you order a stainless steel container for your 'old' blender.

The same applies for the new plastic container, it also fits on the older machines.

===========================================

  • How do I remove the blade?

Please don't attempt to remove the blade for any reason. It is designed to remain installed at all times.

There is no need to remove the blade for cleaning either. Please refer to some cleaning tips below. You may also find detailed cleaning instructions in your Owner's Manual.

===========================================

  • Why won't my blender turn on?

Your new TORNADO Blender is equipped with state of the art safety features. Its Automatic Overload Protection is designed to protect your motor and other key components from overheating.

If triggered, this feature shuts off your blender immediately to protect it from any possible damage.

Should your Automatic Overload Protection ever be triggered, please follow the below instructions:

1. Unplug your TORNADO Blender from the power outlet.

2. Let the machine cool down for at least 15 minutes.

3. The Reset button for the Automatic Overload Protection is located on the bottom of the motor base.

4. Turn your motor base upside down and press the Reset button.

5. Plug the machine back into the power outlet. Do not install the container. Do not put your fingers on or near the drive coupling.

7. Press the ON button, and then the LOW or the HIGH button. If the motor works again, you may go back to using the machine as you normally do. If it is still not working, please unplug it again and wait a little longer. Then repeat the above steps. This safety feature will eventually disengage and you will be able to use the appliance again.

This feature is very unlikely to be triggered under normal use and conditions (even heavy duty use normally does not trigger it because of our advanced cooling system). So if you experience this often, you are either not using the appliance properly, or there may be a problem with your machine.

Should you experience continued triggering of the Automatic Overload Protection, please contact us so that we can work on a solution together.

        ===========================================

  • Do I have to sharpen the blade of my TORNADO after some time?

No. Actually, the blade in our TORNADO is not very sharp to begin with - it is a so-called 'hammer mill blade'. The blade is designed to pulverize, not cut or slice. The extremely high speed of the blade pulverizes all ingredients. Therefore, unlike most other blenders, you will not notice a decline in performance due to increasingly dull blades.

 ===========================================

  • How do I clean my new blender?

The easiest way to clean your TORNADO Blender is by filling the container with a few drops of dish-fluid and warm water and then running the machine on HIGH for a few seconds. Your blender basically becomes its own dishwasher.

Here are the detailed instructions:

1. Fill the container half way with warm water. Add 2 drops of regular dish washing fluid.

2. Install the lid and the lid plug.

3. Place the container on the motor base and power on the machine.

4. Double check that the lid is securely in place. Set the TIMER to 60 seconds. Start the motor by pushing the HIGH button.

5. After the motor turns off, remove the lid and pour the soapy water into a sink. Rinse the container, lid and lid plug under running water and let it air-dry or wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

6. Store the container, lid and lid plug separately from each other to prevent any remaining humidity from being trapped within the parts.

Some very thick or sticky mixtures may require manual cleaning.

Please use non-scratch cloths/sponges. Be very careful and don't come in contact with the blades as they are sharp and may cut you.

Please note: There is no need to remove the blade for cleaning. Never try to remove or loosen the blade assembly. It is designed to remain installed at all times.

  • I lost my Owner's Manual. Can I get a copy?

Yes of course. Please contact us and we will arrange that for you.

  • Where is the blender made?

Many of you may not like this answer, but here it goes. Bad news first, then good news:

We source the vast majority of the parts and components for our blender from various suppliers in China. We spent years to build molds, and find the best & most reliable suppliers. Please believe me, it was my first priority to source the best possible quality parts, for each and every component of this machine.

I'm German (born & raised, moved to the USA at age 25), and in this case, one of the many stereotypes about Germans is 100% true: I didn't accept any shortcuts, and genuinely tried to build the best blender possible. Please believe me, this thing is rock solid, and built like the old-school German cars in the past (nowadays, they don't make them like that anymore either, from what I've heard).

Now the good news:

We hand-build every blender here in Las Vegas. We're receiving the parts (some pre-assembled) from China, and then we put them all together here.

We're not building them in mass-production on a belt or something - each blender is build carefully by the same person from beginning to end.  It takes us about 20 minutes to assemble one motor base.

After the blender is built, we run each machine for 10 minutes under various loads, to make sure that it works 100% perfectly.  Then, we make it nice and shiny and put it in the shipping box, ready to be send to you.

If you happen to have any suggestions for US companies who may be able to make parts for our blender (injection plastic parts, stainless steel or aluminum parts, electrical components etc...) , please contact us and we will 100% get in touch with them.

It's definitely my goal to source more parts from the US.  But in order to get this whole thing going, I needed to go the other route initially - otherwise - it would have been impossible to create this machine, as it would have cost so much more to build all these molds here in the US. It's sad, but unfortunately, that's the truth.

If you are no longer interested, I completely understand of course. That being said, I hope you will give me your trust, as you can hopefully see and appreciate that you're not buying just another "cheap-shit" product from overseas.    Thank you very much in advance!!

  • My blender is brand new. Why does it smell like it's burning?

Although all motors are tested and run several minutes under load before we ship them out, heavy use will cause further curing of the motor windings in new blenders. This curing gives off a burning smell and is typical for wound DC motors.  This smell will quickly dissipate after a few heavy uses, and it is absolutely nothing to worry about.

In addition, your new TORNADO Blender is equipped with state of the art safety features. Its Automatic Overload Protection is designed to protect your motor and other key components from overheating.

If triggered, this feature shuts off your blender immediately to protect it from any possible damage. However, a slight burning smell may also be emitted.

This safety feature is very unlikely to be triggered under normal use and conditions (even heavy duty use normally does not trigger it because of our advanced cooling system). So if you experience this often, you are either not using the appliance properly, or there may be a problem with your machine. Should you experience continued triggering of the Automatic Overload Protection, please contact us so that we can work on a solution together.

  • What is the lid plug for?

This lid plug acts like a vent to allow steam to escape the container when you are making hot soups and other hot liquids. Without this feature, steam would build up pressure inside the container.

In addition, removing the lid plug allows you to add ingredients while the blender is running. And lastly, removing the lid plug also allows you to safely use the tamper in order to push ingredients down into the blade when you are blending thick mixtures.

===========================================

  • Can I add hot ingredients in my container?

Your TORNADO Blender is capable of creating creamy soups with temperatures of up to 170°F (the heat is generated by the friction of the high-speed blade).

We do not recommend that you add ingredients hotter than 170°F. Please take additional care when handling hot liquids or ingredients.

 ===========================================

  • Why is there grease around the gear on the bottom of my container?

Grease around the gear and the retainer nut on the bottom of the container may indicate that the bearing-seals inside the blade assembly are worn out. These parts are fully covered under our Warranty.

If your blender is out of Warranty and you are having this issue, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We won't leave you alone, even long after you Warranty has expired.
You can purchase a replacement blade assembly at a very low price (unlike our competitors, we are offering all our replacement parts and additional containers at very low prices).

BEST Filters and Service on Earth

There are no other filters as well made, unique, and useful. I bought a set a few years ago. When I came back to order more, they were the same price. And just as nice!
The owner (Ingo) is an absolute delight! Ingo remembered me from my previous order (years ago). It's like service a person would get in a bygone era. Heartfelt thank-you for a great shopping experience!

Missouri customer

I have wanted a really good quality blender, soomthie moaker, nut butter blender but witches cost, I wanted a good investment. I just happened to stumble across the Tornado. It wasn't as expensive as the Blendtex, Ninga, Vita Mixer, for the quality, AND! It's American made. It works great, so I'm very happy I waited and kept looking to finally buy.
